Bye Bye, Bradley

Note: Please add your thoughts and/or favorite Bradley/Silva trade tweets in the comments.
It’s a funny thing watching as Cubs fans find out about the trade (Bradley to Seattle for Carlos Silva and cash). It’s hard to know how to feel, and then the pure joy of not wasting another minute thinking about Milton Bradley sets in.
So who is Carlos Silva? Here’s his career stats. However, Mariners fans surely have another take, as in his M’s career Silva lost 18 games and won only 5 over the last two seasons.
Here are some of the best early fan reactions, via Twitter:
@alexquigley: Losing Milton Bradley for Carlos Silva feels like finally breaking up w/ a crazy girl…who in turn burns down your house.
@bitterjoe:Carlos Silva is so bad the M’s sent him and $9M to the #Cubs for Milton Bradley. And M’s fans are celebrating.
@draysbay: Carlos Silva wanted to choke Ichiro in 2008. Let’s not act like he’s some clubhouse saint. Plus he’s worse at baseball.
@payollely: Carlos Silva and Milton Bradley are trending topics! I don’t care what anyone says, this is an early Christmas present for #Cubs fans!
This is going to be a fun one to dissect. More news as this continues to develop..

I can’t believe Silva’s contract. It was worse than Bradley’s. This deal was obviously cursed from the start since MB was involved, but Silva looks done. Ugh.

Guys,
The Cubs could have traded for a bag of balls and I would have been elated.
This is good news any way I look at it.
Bradley is gone!

OK. Now go out and get Coco Crisp. Lou and Sheps mentioned him as a possibility in the last cast and he is better than Byrd or Posednik. Perhaps Silva can take Heilman’s place.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if Silva had a career year? Wouldn’t it be awesome if the Cubs won the World Series?
yeah……..
All kidding aside, two crazy Venezuelan Carlos’ in the same clubhouse?

My new favorite:
#Cubs traded Milton Bradley to Mariners. Bradley arrives in town today and his Baggage to arrive throughout the season.

if Silva couldn’t pull it together in a small market team with diminishing expectations, then how does ANYONE think he can fix himself in a major market team that lacks a successful pitching coach and where the media roots more for individuals to fail then for the team to win?
chicago is where good pitchers go to die so personally I wanted MB to stay and work with Jaramillo.

In my opinion, the real determination of success in this trade is what the Cubs are able to do with the cash. Obviously a decent showing from Silva would be bonus at the least, but there is still work to be done in the outfield.
